				From Prototype to FDA-Approved: Rapid Development of Scout’s COVID-19 Testing Device
									Scout developed a proprietary molecular testing platform in 2020 to make accurate, affordable, and lab-quality COVID-19 diagnostics accessible at home. The test relies on a reusable device that analyzes the sample and transmits the results via Bluetooth to a mobile app.								
				
									CLEIO collaborated with Scout to design both the main device and its companion mobile app. Building on a functional prototype, our team engineered the first two versions of the testing device that laid the foundation for the final, production-ready model. 								
				
									Despite the complexity of the electronic integration and the accelerated timelines imposed by the pandemic, CLEIO delivered a solution that was easy to assemble, intuitive to use, and capable of producing highly reliable results.								
				
									Scout received FDA authorization for professional use just eight months after completing clinical trials and is now expanding the device’s capabilities to include tests for respiratory, sexually transmitted, and chronic diseases.
