An artificial intelligence-driven optometry device that helps patient diagnosis
BJ Nimo has designed a tool that simplifies optometrist’s work by capturing retina images and sending them to artificial intelligence-driven analysis software to obtain an ophthalmic diagnosis.
Its workflow saves time for eye care professionals by ensuring a minimum number of operations for each patient.

CLEIO was approached by the Chinese firm BJ Nimo to develop their device and accompanying software.
Our engineers and designers worked closely with the client to develop the concept, the system block diagram, the software solution architecture, and the image acquisition and storage flow.

A compact device with high-density electronics
Our mechanical engineers faced several constraints in designing this electronically dense device. Despite the lack of space, they optimized the air circulation to limit the internal temperature.
On the other hand, our electronic engineers reduced the space occupation while keeping all the components.

A responsive, fast and reliable software
Alongside the electronic team, our developers improved the image treatment by the embedded software so that it could be as fast as possible.
Controlled costs
BJ Nimo wanted to produce his device in a minimal number of units. Our challenge was to make its production inexpensive while incorporating high-end optical and electronic components.
For example, we replace the automatic adjustment system with a manual one that is quicker to use and less expensive in terms of hardware and development.
We did successive iterations to design alongside stakeholders
To design the DragonVision, CLEIO collaborated with several companies in different countries. Each had its specialization area and adapted continuously. Successive iterations helped us to move forward together and at the same pace. A constant exchange makes solutions emerge to create a more compact device quickly.
A CFDA-certified product in only 9 months
Our engineers and designers worked closely to provide the DragonVision with a guided target alignment, image capture, and validation process to ensure minimal operations with each patient. They also designed the device workstation.
Thanks to CLEIO’s expertise, BJ Nimo released a DragonVision beta version in only nine months and brought a CFDA-certified product to market faster.
